英语教师是学生学习英语的向导, 英语教学正确与否, 关键在于教师本身。那么, 教师应如何教好书, 并有效灵活地传授英语知识呢?我认为, 英语教学应不断渗透爱国教育, 使学生在学习英语的过程中得到健康、全面的发展, 应从以下几个方面加以考虑。

一、立足于母语, 以母语为基础

英语尽管在世界各国中成为通用的语言, 在我国也得到良好的推广, 但它毕竟不是我国的母语, 不能代替我们的汉语。英语教师要时刻以本国的语言为基础, 在英语教学中注意融合中国国情教育, 使学生的思想境界得到不断提升, 为知识的理解和吸收打下良好的思想基础。

由于学生的思维尚不成熟, 理解问题比较单纯, 在学习英语的过程中难免存在片面性或孤立性。对于外语的任何知识, 什么都想全部吸收, 并注入自己的脑海中, 结果哪些知识是精华, 哪些是糟粕都分不清, 完全颠倒黑白, 糊涂是非, 给自己的知识积累带来不良的影响。在这种情况下, 教师就应以身作则, 言传身教, 给学生立下路标, 指明方向。

二、提高思想品德, 增强爱国意识

教师在传授知识的过程中, 要不断提高自身的思想品德, 增强学生的爱国意识, 真正达到言传身教的目的。教师是培养人才的专门人员, 他们把科学文化知识和各种行为规范传授给学生, 使之成为继往开来的新一代。教师在进行爱国教育的同时, 首先要提高自身的思想品质。也就是说, 教师要热爱祖国, 热爱中国共产党, 忠于党的教育事业。这样才能使自己的思想水平得到不断提高, 真正起到言传身教、为人师表的表率作用, 从而更好地为学生服务。

学生最大的特点是效仿性强, 教师的一言一语、一举一动, 都将成为学生效仿的楷模和典范。因此, 教师在渗透爱国教育的同时, 要确立正确的目标, 为学生打下良好的思想基础和创造一个良好的道德环境, 使他们在理解和吸收知识的同时懂得辨别真伪。

三、开展多种活动

开展多种内容丰富、灵活生动的爱国知识活动, 增强学生的爱国热情。知识的传授不单是孤立、片面的讲解, 教师在渗透爱国教育的同时, 也应在学生集体队伍中开展内容丰富、形象生动的爱国知识教育活动。爱国知识教育不应只局限于课堂范围内, 还可组织学生观看爱国主义教育影片, 让革命前辈给学生介绍历史故事, 参观名胜古迹和英雄纪念馆 (碑) ;从英语角度开展各种知识竞赛, 或组织学生运用通俗易懂的英语口语进行爱国知识朗诵比赛, 类似方式都可有效地提高学生的知识水平和扩大知识范围。

当然, 在课堂教学中教师更不应放弃任何一次机会进行爱国主义教育。例如, 初中英语课本1—6册中, 每册的大部分课文和对话在爱国知识内容方面都占有相当篇幅, 并附有大量形象生动、内容丰富的插图。教师在讲授或授完每一节课时, 可让学生口头复述或默写, 从而加深学生对课文的理解和印象。有条件的还可以播放幻灯片或录音, 提高学生学习英语的兴趣和主动性, 同时又使学生获得丰富的语言知识。
