一、引言

依据职业教育“以服务为宗旨，以就业为导向”办学目的，高职院校各专业都在高年级开设专业英语课程。目前高职校专业英语的教材并没有一套固定的评价标准，因而教材并不能反应专业英语应有的教学内容，不能吸引学生，教学往往不能成功。因而本文试图以软件外包服务专业的专业英语课，计算机专业英语为研究对象，分析社会对该专业学生英语水平的要求，结合目前的教学现状，从ESP的教材编写原则角度探讨了如何选择适合高职学生的专业英语教材。

二、ESP的概念与现状

ESP即专门用途英语。Halliday，Macintosh，Stevens曾定义了ESP：公务员、警察、法律工作者、农业专家、工程师等（专业人士）使用的英语被称为专门用途英语。Jordan以学习者使用语言最终目的和语言环境为主线，将专门用途英语分为职业和学术英语两类。Hutchinson & Water（1987：17）以学科门类为主线，将ESP 分三类，包括科技英语，商务英语和社科英语。每个分支又分为职业和学术英语两个次分支。

ESP的研究在国外始于上世纪六十年代，由Halliday，Macintosh，Stevens等人首次提出了English for specific purpose 的概念。而我国ESP概念的明确提出是在20世纪末21世纪初，是一个新兴却发展迅猛的研究方向。1994-2004的理论探索时期，友良，刘润清，蔡基刚，秦秀白等多名学者反思中国外语教学，考虑如何培养能适应21世纪的挑战的大学生。指出了专门用途英语教学将是我国大学英语教学的发展方向。2009至今的实践试点时期，成立了ESP in Asia国际学术研讨会，《中国ESP研究》创刊，中国外语教学研讨会专门用途英语专业委员会成立，多所大学开展ESP教学实践。2009年后的ESP相关论文井喷。但在这种繁荣的形式下，讨论ESP在高职高专院校的教学的论文却非常少。

三、专门用途英语教材的标准

关于ESP教材的标准有两种不同的观点。一种是认为教材的目的就是在语言本身，学科内容只是一个载体。Lewis 和 Hill（1993：52-53）认为 ESP 教材的衡量标准是：1）教材能否激发学习者的好奇和研究兴趣；2）教材是否和学生的专业以及需求有关；3）教材是否有趣；4）教材是否有他们认为值得做的任务和活动。蔡基刚（2013）认为“真正的专门用途英语教材重点是在语言，在ESP教材中学科内容只是一个媒介，教材通过专业相关主题来呈现专业特有的语言现象和特点。”

另一种认为学科内容是目的，语言是载体。王艳（2011）提出了ESP教材编写的9个原则，其中一条是“系统性原则”：“ESP教材提供的专业知识主要属大专业方面的一般知识，虽没有双语教材的专业性强，但要有一定的系統性”。按第二种观点编写的教材将不能脱离双语教材或全英语的专业教材的影子，不能突出训练学生特定学科里的语言能力，帮组学生掌握特定领域里的语言特点和交际能力的目的。

四、软件外包行业对计算机英语的需求分析

软件服务外包行业是一个新兴并发展迅速的行业，根据业务的不同层次，从业人员可分为初、中、高三个层次。初级人员主要从事编码和测试的工作，他们在中高级人员的指导下，可以独立或协作完成日常的编码与测试工作，是企业非常重要的组成。这部分人员需求量极大，也是高职院校软件服务外包专业培养的目标。企业对这部分学生所需的英语技能要求并不低，需要学生有专业相关的听说读写能力。主要包括在日常的工作中能够听懂与自身工作相关部分的内容；能自如讨论与汇报与自身工作有关部分内容；能快速且精确读懂技术文档；能准确书写日报、周报等工作报告。

五、计算机英语教学现状与教材选择

高职院校的专业英语课程的目的是培养学生的英语实用能力，培养学生处理日常和涉外活动能力，训练学生简单的英语阅读、写作和会话能力培养学生自主学习英语的能力，运用英语分析、解决问题的能力以及交流合作的能力。但是在实际的教学中，教师却发现教材基本是以扩展专业阅读和提升词汇量为目标，选材也是偏向理论性文章，内容陈旧，不能反映本专业的最新发展。

六、结论

要改变教学现状，选用真正能遵循ESP原则的教材是重要的一步。计算机英语教材应该具有以下两个特点。1）内容是学科的入门性知识，并不要求系统与全面，但是需要具有典型性。2）注重培养学生在计算机学科里的听说读写语言技能。
