目前，吉林省杨树造林用苗，主要采用扦插育苗，因为扦插育苗方法简单、成本低、苗木质量好，当年可以出圃造林。现将扦插育苗技术简要介绍如下：

首先选择地势平坦，灌溉方便，排水良好，土层深厚、肥沃、疏松的地块作育苗地；地势低洼、土壤粘重、雨季积水、盐碱过重、地下水位过高的地块都不适合做育苗地。同时，选择育苗地时，还应注意倒换茬口，避免重茬。

育苗地选好后，并于秋季结冻前进行深翻整地、耙细耙平，翻地深度要达到25厘米以上，随后按60厘米垄距起垄。在起垄的同时，将发酵好的农家肥，按每亩不少于2500公斤的标准，均匀撒在垄沟里，这样起一垄撒一垄，正好将粪肥施在扦插育苗的垄埂下，并立即用磙子拖拉一次，待第二年春天进行扦插育苗。

所用插穗条材应于晚秋树木落叶后，早晨树液流动前，即树木的休眠期间，选取粗1厘米以上，芽饱满、无病虫害的当年萌条为好。插穗条材才回后，可将条材高的二分之一以上临时假植在背的沟内，一层条材、一层湿沙，条材不要铺的太厚，剪穗时随用随取。插穗规格，一般12～15厘米，小头直径1厘米左右，但不要小于0.5厘米，每个插穗应保留3～4个健壮芽苞，上切口与插穗最上一个芽保持1～1.5厘米距离。剪穗时，上切口应为平面；下切口成单马耳形。插穗髓心不实、木质不好、有虫苞的或有机械损伤的都淘汰。插穗剪好后，按照上切口朝上，每100棵为一捆，并按小头直径大小不同分级打捆，采取露天挖沟越冬埋藏。选择高燥，排水良好又背阴的地方挖1米深的沟，然后在沟底铺上厚约5厘米的湿沙，再把成捆的插穗直立于沟内，先排放一层，填上5厘米堆积3～4层即可，但不能超过4层，否则，易发热长毛，最上一层沙子可铺15～20厘米，然后盖上一层树叶或草，进行越冬埋藏。为便于通气、防止发热，在沟内应插通气把。埋藏期间，应经常检查，如有发热霉烂现象，应及时翻倒；插穗和沙子过干，可适当浇点水。取穗时，要特别注意保护好芽苞和表皮。有的地方，埋藏插穗条材，第二年春天剪穗，这种方法工序复杂，又易造成条材失水，在生产上很不适用。

每年早春时节，当土壤解冻到18～20厘米深时，就可进行扦插。扦插前采取侧方沟灌，在灌透底水的垄台上，使用在水中浸泡过一昼夜的插穗，芽尖向上，按照10～15厘米株距，垂直插入土中，上切口与地面取平，插后踩实，以防风干。扦插过程中，要防止倒插、斜插。

有的地方采取大垄双行，即每垄扦插两行，虽然这种方法产苗量，但不便于中耕除草，而且苗木质量低劣，不利于培养优质壮苗。

扦插后应及时进行沟灌，以后根据土壤和气候情况适时灌溉，一般应掌握头遍水饱灌，二遍水浅灌，幼苗生根蹲苗期少灌，生长期多灌，扦插后与出苗前必灌，追肥后及时灌，生长后期停止灌的原则。

幼苗生长期要适时除草松土，坚持铲蹚结合，达到草净地暄，改善土壤的通气性、透水性，一般情况下，全年中耕除草次数不少于3～4次，灌溉后和下雨后要及时铲蹚，7月下旬以后要逐渐减少，最后一次中耕除草时间不能晚于8月中旬。铲蹚时，不要伤根、伤芽、伤皮。

苗木生长盛期到来之前要适时追肥，主要追施氮肥，如硝酸铵、尿素等。如果追肥一次，在6月下旬进行；追肥两次，分别在6月中、下旬和7月中旬进行；施肥量每公顷200公斤左右。追肥时，将肥料均匀地撒在根部，随后结合铲蹚及时覆土灌水一次。

扦插后，插穗地下部分尚未生根，地上部分长出很多萌条，当萌条长到6～10厘米高时，在它未木质化之前，除保留一棵健壮笔直的萌条外，其余的都应及时摘除，以免水分和养分的过度消耗。另外，留下的萌条，在生长过程中，干上抽出很多侧芽，特别是小黑杨、白城杨、双阳快杨表现更为突出，每隔一周就要摘芽一次，一年要进行10次左右，但这项工作应在立秋前结束，以促进梢部木质化，增强抗寒性。

苗木在生长过程中，易发生各种叶斑病、锈病，白杨透翅蛾，杨潜叶蛾等病虫害，要准备好农药、器械，采取综合性防治措施，及时除治，以保证苗木的正常生长。

另外，培育2～3年生大苗，可采用1×1或1×1.5米株行距，在苗圃实行扦插或栽苗根。
