1 分析市场

经济的“全球化”导致了教育的“全球化”,推行英语与汉语并重的双语教学,用两种语言作为教学媒介,使学生达到娴熟掌握两种语言为目标的双语教育正是我国教育与国际教育接轨的举措。自教育部2001年颁布《关于加强高等学校本科教学工作 提高教学质量的若干意见》以来,双语教学已在各高校推广和深入,对双语教学过程中的教学方法和技巧的探讨也日益受到重视。本文拟就进行双语教学的必要性、目标、教学实施、教师要求及其相关教学方法进行探讨,并给出一些教学实践中的切身体会。

1 双语教学的目标

所谓“双语教学”(bilingualeducation),是指在专业学科课程的教学中,采用国外原版教材(通常是英文教材),而授课中采用中(汉语)、外(英语)两种语言交叉进行,作业、实验、考试均采用外文(英语)的一种教学方法。双语教学的目的是为了增强学生用英语来理解和表达专业理论的能力,引导学生去接触更多的英文文献和资料,加深学生对国外先进的知识体系、思考方法以及前言的学术理论的进一步了解,促使其积极主动地全面掌握专业知识和技能,着力培养学生的国际意识、国际交往能力和国际竞争能力,并为今后进入的专业研究打下良好的基础。“信息管理”作为信管专业的核心基础课程,很多中文教材直接就是国外原版教材的翻译或介绍,非常适合并且也有必要采用双语教学,可以促使学生掌握更基础的学科知识点。因此,双语教学首先是的专业教学,获取学科知识是双语教学的核心和重点。

2 双语教学的实施及相关问题的探讨

2.1 双语教材的选用

要进行高质量的双语教学,必须选择恰当的双语教材,教师要兼顾教材内容和教材费用两个问题,但前者应该是教师选用教材的关键因素。对于教材的选用,一般有购买原版教材、自编教材、双语教材、改编教材等几种选择。对“信息管理”而言,其课程特点决定了选择原版教材为好,以对那些在管理学领域处于领先地位的国家的学术研究可以做更深入的了解,但本科生的教材要难度适中,不能让晦涩的语言成为大部分学生学习的障碍。也就是说,在保证教学体系完整合理的前提下,应尽量选择语言生动、示例清晰、逻辑性强的原版教材。双语教师要对选用的教材充分理解,并根据课程要求对教学内容进行重新调整与组合,在有限的课时内完成教学任务,尤其要补充难度适中的阅读材料,以扩展学生的知识面,培养学生的求知欲。

2.2 双语教学准备与实践

为有效提高双语教学的质量,教师在双语教学实践中可以分为以下四个阶段:

2.2.1 充分准备教学资料,有效提高教学效率

在双语教学实践中,最佳的状态是学生课堂外自学,课堂上通过师生互动讨论,由教师检验自学效果并解决重点疑难问题,提出系统的专业前沿理论知识。但实际过程中往往不能完全实现,因为原版教材往往阅读量很大,一些学生由于语言问题往往不能坚持自学,或者虽然课前阅读了课文和相关资料但不能把握要点,致使课前预习没有实际效果而最终放弃,学习效率较低。这就需要教师在进行双语教学前要合理评价授课水平与学生素质,明确双语教学的基本条件与学生的可接受性,并以此为基础充分准备教学资料,指导学生进行课前预习。这些教学资料应该包括全英文的教材、教学大纲、授课专题摘要、练习题、辅助阅读材料、自测题、小测试等,有些教学资料教材中已经提供,有些则需要教师根据教学实践不断地积累完善,并根据授课计划进度及时提供给学生,指导学生适应双语教学的节奏,进行积极有效的课前预习,使一些基础的语言问题在课前得到解决,从而提高实际教学效果和效率。

2.2.2 详细讲解重点与难点,引导学生自我学习

教师在授课过程中要尽量用英文授课,但不必强求英文授课比例,可在必要时以中文辅助解释,主要根据课程的难易程度以及学生的理解程度适当加以调整。教师一定要精心准备教案,在“信息管理”双语教学中,笔者一般以小的案例引出本专题主要内容,列出关键词并加以解释,通过例题讲解加深对理论的理解,根据时间提出一些小问题让学生解答,着重引导学生发现问题、理解学科重点。这要求双语教师要提高英文表述水平,能够详细讲解重点与难点,在掌控教学进度的前提下,丰富教学内容,增强教学过程的互动,引导学生自我学习。

2.2.3 恰当安排习题答疑,加强师生的沟通、交流

在双语教学中,很多学生反映看得懂、听得懂,但仍不能分析问题、解决问题,因为课堂时间有限,这些能力又不能仅依赖授课得到提高,问题长期积累下来,往往会挫伤学生学习的积极性,造成教学的恶性循环。因此,要根据教学进度,灵活安排习题课和答疑课的时间。习题答疑不一定完全由教师讲解,可以请一些知识掌握的好的学生在充分准备后与其他学生进行交流,形式也不一定拘泥于课堂,可以针对全班、部分同学或者个人,借助于班级公共邮箱或我院的网络教学系统在固定的时间内完成。习题一定要保持英文形式,答疑也尽量以英文形式完成,避免某些学生对课堂教学不感兴趣,只是等着习题答疑,降低对学生学习的促进作用。

2.2.4 适时进行复习测试,促进学生主动思考

双语教学中往往出现学生学后忘前,即在学习后面专题的过程中发现对前面的几个专题已经没有印象,甚至有个别学生夸张地说等临近考试发现对以往的知识点遗忘大半,这主要是因为学生的学习能力有所差异,学习态度也不尽相同,尤其是有些学生由于语言障碍可能会对某些课程存在回避心理。为避免这种情况,需要双语教师付出更多的努力,可以根据教学进度和授课内容进行复习测试,一则促进学生温故而知新,二则使学生及时总结学习经验,达到事半功倍的效果。复习测试不一定是书面形式,也不一定占用过多课堂时间,可以通过设专题分组讨论、案例设计与分析等形式进行,主要促进学生主动思考问题、解决问题,激发学生的学习兴趣,尤其引导学生对某一问题深入研究,最终形成研究性学习的氛围。

2.3 双语教学方法和手段

2.3.1 采用多媒体教学,充分利用网络资源

双语教学中利用多媒体技术可以将难以表述的理论或难度较大的课堂案例等采用动画、声音、视频等形式编制成计算机软件辅助讲解,使教学内容直观、趣味、多样。而且,将多媒体课件发给学生,可以引导他们进行自主的学习。同时,可以充分利用学校和校外的网络资源,为学生进行自主、探究、合作等学习提供便利的平台和工具。学生可以通过浏览各种专业网站,了解学科的最新动态,也可以随时通过电子邮件、MSN、博客等与教师或学生进行交流讨论,培养学生的创新能力以及提出问题、分析问题、解决问题的能力,以有助于提高学生的思维水平等.

2.3.2 有效实施案例教学等多种教学方法,促进学生学以致用

在双语教学中根据授课进度恰当实施案例教学等多种教学方法,可以促进学生对某一特定学科知识点的理解与应用,教师通过对学生的指点、引导、启发思维,加强彼此之间的沟通,并在探索中解决问题。尤其“信息管理”是一种方法性、操作性很强的课程,案例教学可以成为连接知识点与业务实践的桥梁,使知识的传递更加主动、迅速、高效。这对双语教师提出了更高的要求,应当具有相当的知识储备,引导学生运用知识,根据案例的背景资料和个案所处的环境寻找解决问题的办法。同时,也可以通过小组作业、小组发言和讨论,参与教师的科研活动、外出调研等方式,将课程学习与其学年论文甚至毕业论文结合起来,调动学生学习的积极性。

3 促进双语教学改进发展的思考

双语教学对教师提出了很高的要求,教师素质是提高双语教学质量的关键因素。学校要有专门的双语师资选拔原则与方法,为教师参加教研和培训提供支持。可以通过出国研修、聘请国外专家来校讲学等在职培训提高双语教师教学能力与水平,有计划地组织骨干教师的外语培训与进修。同时,建立有效的教研激励机制,定期奖励教学研究成果,充分激发、调动教师的积极性。高质量的双语教学不仅要求教师具有扎实的学科和英语功底,还要肯下工夫、肯付出。因此必须尊重和保护教师教学研究的积极性和创造性,引导和鼓励教师上有自己特色的课。

由于双语教学的特殊性,其教学评价机制应有别于一般的教学评价机制,要建立一个全程监控的测评体系,对结果与过程测评并重,可以实施多指标评估体系,真实、客观地反映学生的综合素质、教学效果、教师的教学态度与能力、教学内容与方法以及有关部门在双语教学实施中的作用与效果。双语教学成绩的考核根据课程内容形式要多样化,要从教学的角度理性地认识东西方教学思想、教学方法、成绩考核的差异性,选择贴近教学内容与学生实际的考核方式,将平时与期末成绩并重、书面与口头表达相结合,从而有效评价学生的学习态度、学习能力与学习效果,实现双语教学真正的意义和目标。

双语教学组织和教学方法处于探索和不断推进的阶段,有待进一步提高和逐步完善,教学经验有待积累和丰富,教学质量有待检验。因此,在教学过程中,应大力开展教学的研讨与交流,及时分析存在的问题,总结和推广教学经验。学校要为教师之间进行信息交流和专题讨论提供平台,可以定期组织跨专业的双语教学教研活动,促进双语教学经验的交流与传递,加强不同阶段、不同专业间双语教学的沟通,使学校的双语教学更加系统、合理。同时,在双语教学的初级阶段就将一些问题加以解决,培养学生良好的学习习惯和有效的学习方法,激发学生对同类课程的学习兴趣,避免教师重复无效的工作,加强双语教学不同阶段教师之间的配合与协作,最终提高学校双语教学的总体质量,有效实现双语教学目标。

在实施双语教学的过程中对教学双方都会产生较大影响。对于学生,它可在人文素养培养上、思维方式训练上起到潜移默化的作用;对于教师,也是一种思想文化和教学水平的提高过程。双语教学质量的不断提高还需要教学双方共同的努力、学校对双语教学的合理安排以及双语课程之间的有效衔接。

As an undergraduate, he was invited to enter our company at the master”s-degree salary level, and that confidence was rewarded with his very creative and knowledgeable mind. Though there are many master“s or doctoral candidates in my team, Mr. Xiao”s performance has been the best of all. Alone among all his teammates, he earned straight As during his probationary period.

Mr. Xiao“s first engagement was in the Data Communication R&D department at ABC Technology, where he worked on the BAS(Broadband Access Server) design used in HSR(High-speed Switch Route). He was in charge of the ATM Access of FR(Frame Relay) and independently designed a system providing eight channels of FR input interfaces. The system will encapsulate the frames into AAL5cells, and connect to HSR after being combined with other access units(. DDN, LAN Emulation, PSDN ).

Mr. Xiao proved to be a very diligent person, often working for several days without leaving the lab and sleeping on the couch when tired. As a result, In just four months he realized the access of Frame Relay from LAN to ATM cell with the optional bandwidth and priority packages. Now, our HSR has provided for multiple countries, as Thailand, Laos, Russia, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Cambodia, Algeria, etc. In China, this product has a market share of more than70% in this product field, bringing huge profits to our company.

In January, Mr. Xiao began work in wireless telecommunication, focused on the base station(NodeB) research in3G WCDMA. NodeB is responsible for the mobility of user terminals at the access layer, supporting various services such as multimedia and voice or data. Thanks to his solid track record in the development process, he earned a promotion to team manager in September2000 leading the MPU(Main Processor Unit) team. The MPU, based on the ATM switch platform, will encapsulate the control plane information into AAL5cells as well as the user plane message into AAL2cells. Finally, these ATM cells will be sent to RNC(Radio Network controller) by IMA(Inverse Multiplexing For ATM) channel. The performance of this new product can match those in MOTOROLA, NOKIA, NEC, and NORTEL, but it is much cheaper. This design is a very successful product of our company, and, in leading their development, Mr. Xiao demonstrated great patience, persistence, and a strong sense of responsibility. In, Mr. Xiao earned the honor of ”outstanding team leader“ in our company through a highly competitive election that honors only two percent of team managers.

During his three years here, Mr. Xiao has shown great talent in creation and invention. As an acknowledged expert in embedded operating systems, he has got four patents for ABC Technology, all of which are widely applied in hardware design and algorithms. Mr. Xiao is also known as the top expert in Verilog and VHDL at the Shanghai R&D center. He is the youngest department manager in Shanghai R&D Center, and his creativity, intelligence, and diligence made him more capable than most doctors.
