I would like to apply to do a Management degree. Having acted as Managing Director on a Young Enterprise Team whilst doing my ‘AS’ levels, I came up with innovative ideas that made a very successful company. Having held management positions within Human Resources, Operations, and Finance, I quickly realised that pursuing a management degree at university would be ideal for me.

After my GCSE’s, I held a temporary job as a junior in an Insolvency practice, in order to gain work experience. Having to work to tight deadlines taught me how to work independently as part of a professional team. I learnt that in business, if one person lacks productivity, then everyone else can suffer, and also how to motivate others as a means of preventing such issues. I used the skills learnt to enhance my role as the Managing Director of my young Enterprise company, particularly methods of motivation and delegation, and the significance of being accountable for others. Having spent nearly three years working part time in a Health food shop alongside my studies, I developed my communication skills, with both colleagues and customers, and proved to be a trustworthy employee.

Being appointed as Deputy Head Boy in the sixth form was a great honour to me. My skills were greatly enhanced by holding this position, as I would often have to listen, and respond to issues brought up by fellow prefects, and students lower down the school. Through activities such as Lunch duty, I learnt the worth of different leadership skills, and that it is important to treat everyone as an individual in order to get results. I was always keen to stay into the evening to help out at school events.

Socialising is very important to me, and I am always keen to meet new people. I enjoy trying new foods to increase my knowledge of different cultures, and my culinary skills will prove very useful in independent university life. I enjoy travelling, and learning about modern history. Having recently returned from Prague, I visited a concentration camp. This was a moving experience for me, and something I will never forget. Music is one of my biggest hobbies, and I use music to help me unwind and reflect on things. I use the internet to keep up with current affairs and sports news.

I have always been a keen sportsman, representing my school in many sporting activities. I enjoy running, particularly competing in sprint races, but also long distance running as a means of keeping fit. I always try to go for a run every evening, during breaks between my A Level studies. I represented my school as a keen member of the district and Maccabi Great Britain athletics teams, particularly in the relay. I formally played tennis and table tennis in national competitions, and more recently I have played in football, rugby, and cricket leagues outside of school.

I believe that my experiences have prepared me for independent university life. My social skills together with my ambition to succeed in life prove me to be good candidate for a Management Degree.

I don’t know what kind of chocolate life will give me, but I believe I can achieve my target if I work hard with my unwavering belief and persevering efforts like Forrest Gump. As a student of Mechanical Engineering, I have just finished my undergraduate study since July. Next what I have to face is to choose the new chocolate which I have yearned for all long. With four-year study of M.E. in China, I would like to scale higher intellectual heights by undertaking advanced studies in __ University, as I believe its rich learning environment and free academic atmosphere will open my eyes to new realities and influence me to confront the situation back home.

My strong interest in research was born during the undergraduate years at _University. Upon entering the university in , I began to embark on my journey of industrious study in the Department of Mechanical Engineering. Before starting the program, I, together with my team, made a detailed plan covering the schedule, materials, and equipment. The first step of our work is the design of the reducer. The design plan is as follows: (1) Set down the blue print. (2) Complete 3-D solid model with Pro/E software. (3) Finite-element analysis with ANSYS software. (4) Assembling simulation by using Pro/E. (5) Complete the 2-D draft of part and assembly. After two-week design work, we stepped to the next work, manufacture of the product. With the aid of the technique of computer, we plan the manufacturing process of every part. And then, all parts were made with various machine tools such as CNC lathe, wire electrical discharge machine, vertical machining center, and so on. Finally, we had toassembly all parts to the harmonic gear reducer, and test-drove it for many times. With five-week unremitting efforts, we succeeded in the project of harmonic gear reducer and obtained the highest praise. This special experience makes it very helpful for my further study. Firstly, I find the connection between theory and practice. Textbooks could hardly cover everything, therefore, if we want to learn more, we should pursue every opportunity to have practices. Meanwhile, I experienced the importance and mightiness of cooperation. In the project, we divided ourselves into several parts, not only doing one’s own work well, but also cooperating with each other harmoniously.

Another case worthy mentioning is my design project for graduation, “Manufacturing and Performance of Electroplated CBN Tools”. The main objective of this project is the manufacturing of the electroplated CBN (Cubic Boron Nitride) wheels and the research of its performance when grinding the heat-resisted steel. I had completed three steps of task. Firstly, I took charge of the manufacturing of electroplated CBN wheels, covering the following work: selecting electroplating solution, computing various electroplating parameters such as electrical current and temperature, adhering CBN to the tool base by electroplating a nickel layer. After these basic preparations, I had to do the second part of the research work to compare grinding abilities of electroplated CBN wheels with those of other wheels such as SiC wheels, Al2O3 wheels etc. This part of the work needs the researcher’s highly particularity and staidness. I did the detailed work as follows: (1) Grind heat-resisted steel with various wheels in the same grinding conditions. (2) Record data and compute the grinding ratio of various wheels. (3) Measure the surface roughness of the heat-resisted steel ground by various wheels. (4) Observe dulling and pullout of abrasive grains of various wheels by using optical microscope. In this part, we can conclude that electroplated wheels have far better grinding abilities than other wheels, by comparing parameters, such as grinding ratio, surface roughness etc. The final assignment of the project is to find out the most suitable parameters of grinding heat-resisted steel with electroplated CBN wheels, through comparing the grinding ratio and surface roughness of heat-resisted steel ground in different grinding parameters. By investigating the attributes of electroplated CBN wheels and concluding their practical grinding parameters, this project is very important in promoting the application of them.

China’s unique advantage of labor force predicts the resplendent future of its Mechanical Engineering, especially the manufacture, and it is our belief that this day will come soon. On the other hand, there are so many experienced technicians in China, however, with the absence of advanced experts many advanced producing method cannot be used in practical yield. When I worked as intern in some factories, I found that most of them were still using facilities which were used in America about thirty years ago. Therefore I want to use the advanced knowledge earned in United States, combined with my acquaintance with China, to improve the present situation and apply best the advanced scientific technology to practical social wealth as soon as possible. I could merely reveal my name, but would that really portray who I was? “We become ourselves through others” claims Vygotsky, but are we all just conformists? Are our personalities just embedded in our genes? Do we act the way we do because we want to? Is it free will which makes us who we are? Debates such as nature v. nurture and free will v. determinism fuel my desire to learn more about both psychology and philosophy.

My passion for philosophy was sparked when reading Mitch Albom’s “The Five People You Meet in Heaven”, which overrides logic and offers an alternative to religious belief. The book itself left me highly motivated to pursue philosophical inquiry in greater depth. Through studying A level psychology I have developed a particular interest in social psychology and the influence social pressures can have on behaviour whilst developing vital skills such as the ability to critically analyse a study or theory.

Aspects of each of my A level subjects have influenced my choice of degree. Open mindedness is essential when studying A level politics. The subject itself spurs endless abstract thought, especially when concerning issues such as power. The curriculum has also enabled me to partake in structured debate with the ability to articulate personal views being essential. In addition to oral communication, essay writing is also a key feature of the syllabus and my powers of expression are constantly evolving. My ability to analyse and develop my writing skills has been accelerated through studying English at higher level, my current concentration upon metaphysical poetry and the underlying message behind abstract imagery. Studying AS level history has enabled me to investigate the different reactions to political, social, cultural, religious and economic situations.

I have been a prefect since and act as a role model to younger students as well as being an ambassador for the school. I am a learning champion within the History department whereby I work with students who require additional tutoring in order to successfully pass their GCSE’s. I have to be well prepared and patient but find it rewarding when my tutee grasps the concept. Last summer I was involved in the organization, development and supervision of a lower school fun day. Having a flair for Economics and accounting I have decided that I want a degree in Accounting and Finance or Management. The many brilliant representatives of the management community around the world have strengthened that resolve.

When I worked in my school as a tutor of English as a Second Language for students from a community school in Muscat, I realized the importance of a strong leader who could organize, command respect, and be able to work well with others. These ideas were further enforced by my month long internship at Novartis Pharmaceutical (Accounts and Finance Department and Human Resources Department).

I attended the Harvard Model Congress in Paris and won the Award of Distinction. One skill in particular that contributed to this award was my confident public speaking.

The last 4 months have been crucial in my learning of real world business and economics. For my IB Extended Essay, titled “To What Extent Does Subway in Oman Operate as an Oligopoly”, I set out to prove the oligpolistic structure of the fast food market in Oman. In this effort, I have come across many real life complexities in pricing behaviour, profit making and other aspects of the Theory of the Firm. While attempting to explain these alternate theories of firms I have developed a keen interest in analyzing and understanding how the world of business works.

After an undergraduate degree in accounting and finance or management I plan to go onto post graduate studies and work on an MBA. A strong performance in a BA will allow me to move onto an MBA and only then shall I be satisfied.

For the last four years I have been part of our schools volleyball team ICE. We have retained our ISAC (Inter Schools Activities Conference, Middle East) title for four years. Playing in the power hitters (spiker) position requires immense physical fitness and to accomplish that I regularly go to the gym for fitness training. I am also part of my school track and field team. Being the fastest sprinter in the school since 11th grade the 100m, 200m and 400m races are my specialty even though I still pursue long distance running. In my spare time I explore and master the computer as I am conversant with a Visual Basic Programming course. It is imperative for me to have the latest hardware and software and I make it a point to install everything myself. I also learn Urdu as it is my native tongue and a link to my culture, to maintain that is crucial.

Living in a diverse international community of over 52 nationalities has allowed to me recognize and appreciate different cultures. With the experience I have and the strong motivation to craft a bright future I feel I can justify my decision to pursue a career in Accounting and Finance or Management.

I wish to be part of the future revolution and that is why I want to study Computer Science. The idea of studying Computer Science came to me as soon as I started considering my career options: I have been around computers from an early age and have absorbed myself in them ever since. I am particularly interested in the integration of computing in music production (which I have a passion for), research into breakthrough technologies such as “Direct Note Access” has shown me the amazing possibilities that could be achieved with the right ideas and knowledge behind them. My interest in Computer Science comes from my view of it as a challenging and creative subject, I am particularly eager to study software engineering and computer graphics.

Studying ICT has enhanced both my knowledge and experience in the uses and applications of computer systems. For my AS coursework project I successfully developed an order processing system for a local business which gave me good experience in system analysis and development, including use of complex formulae, creation of macros and use of VBScript. I am currently leading the project to revamp my school’s website which has given me the opportunity to show off my self-taught web design skills and has also given me the chance to gain further experience working to an end user’s criteria and to develop leadership skills.

Mathematics has been my strongest subject for as long as I can remember. Due to my quick grasp of concepts within the subject I have been in advanced classes since primary school, continuing up to my A levels which has allowed me to have already passed 5 out of my 6 modules with a grade A in each. I have always found the subject interesting as it demands pure logic. My natural ability for logical thinking and problem solving has been strengthened through the study of this subject and the constant challenge of applying new methods and concepts.

Physics is yet another subject that demands logical thinking, while at the same time demands evidence and theory to back it up, providing application of maths aspects of the real world. My coursework investigating the deformation of solids enabled me to combine both my mathematical and research skills to help produce detailed analysis and evaluation to prove that the concept of Hooke’s Law was valid. I was particularly fascinated with the Waves Properties module as the theories on stationary waves and superposition explain a lot about how sound works.

My work experience with Futuretrend Technologies gave me a good insight on how IT based organisations work and the importance of IT within the business world. My employment with Blockbuster Inc. and volunteer work with Cancer Research have both given me the opportunity to interact with customers to provide a helpful service as part of a team, reinforcing both my communication and team working skills.

2.奖学金生

a.申请条件：高三在读生及高中毕业生，毕业时(或在读时)数理化平均成绩70分以上，非俄语生具备良好的英语听、说能力，在校三好学生，并通过中国留学人员基金会的考试与面试。

b.奖学金包括：奖学金学费3000美元/人，发放留学的前两年，每学年1500美元。
