名词化的语篇衔接功能和优化功能决定了在翻译科技英语的名词化时, 要着重把握以下内容, 要重视名词化的双重语义特征。科技英语的名词化是从体现“过程”的动词或体现“特征”的形容词转换而来, 因而兼有双重语义特征。这就告诉我们在翻译时必须对名词化结构进行解构, 弄清其内在的语义关系, 避免错译。通常情况下, 科技英语中名词化词组往往泽成汉语的主谓结构或动宾结构, 既使其内在语义关系变得明确, 又符合汉语本身的特点。对科技英语的名词化的翻译, 单纯依靠词语层面或句法层面的解读和翻译容易造成“只见树木, 不见森林”的窘境, 因而, 我们必须依赖语篇。把名词化放在科技英语语篇中, 不仅有利于本身的解读, 而且对其翻译及汉语语篇的构建有着极为重要的作用。

一、科技英语翻译中存在的问题

科技英语的重要性在当今世界的交流中越来越显著，世界上的许多国家为此设立了专门的科技英语研究机构，以便对科技英语进行更深入和更专业的翻译，而许多国家在大学设立的相关科技英语的专业也成为了各国发展的趋势。科技英语（English for Science andTechnology，EST）诞生于20世纪50年代，是第二次世界大战后科学技术迅猛发展的产物。从那时起，科技英语在国际上引起了广泛的关注和研究，目前已发展成为一种重要的英语语体，在词汇、语法、修辞等方面具有自己的特色。但科技英语翻译的专业性极强，并不像普通英语那样灵活多变，客观规律和逻辑思维的表述清晰明确，在句式上较为固定，因此，对翻译者的专业知识要求颇高，翻译者在翻译时要注意的问题也尤其多。

（一）英语科技翻译者缺乏专业知识的了解

科技英语在翻译内容上要求严谨和简洁，翻译内容极为广泛，其词汇属于国际性，其中70%以上的科技语言词汇是来自希腊语和拉丁语，因此要求翻译者在遣词方面下足功夫。科技英语翻译的复杂和较强的客观性使得翻译者在翻译时遇到的困难极大，翻译人员对专业知识的缺乏成为了科技英语翻译的重大阻碍，如Unidentified Flying Object –UFO（不明飞行物），是将每个词组中的首字母加在一起从而构成了新的词汇，成为首字母缩略词。

基于科技英语与普通英语的不一致性，因此在对科技英语进行翻译的时候对语言准确性和客观性要表述的非常直观专业，在名词的使用上较普通英語更为突出，如科技文章中不说 We can improve its performance by using superheated steam.而说 an improvement of its performance can be achieved by the use of superheated steam.为了简短而明确地表达某一概念或事物，科技英语还广泛地使用名词词组，如energy lose， a day and night weather observation station。在翻译上，科技英语的生僻性使翻译人员在进行翻译时主观性性较强，因此科技英语翻译的评价体系和理论不完善，缺乏完善的科技英语翻译的评价体系，即使翻译人员掌握了较高的英语翻译能力和翻译水平，也很难达到原著作者的准确理论。

（三）科技英语的翻译缺乏对文化因素的重视

无论是哪一种语言，其语言信息都是本国文化通过不断积累，从而体现在语言上，在翻译人员对科技英语进行翻译时，由于科技语的文化差异，使得译文常常显得很不到位。科技英语的翻译就是将源语通过翻译使其变为目的语，由于科技文献的内容文化内涵丰富，翻译的时候如果不站在特定的语言文化环境中进行翻译，进而忽视语言文化因素，影响翻译的效果。

二、科技英语翻译中存在问题的应对策略
